Please watch this informative video about how NWF is helping with the Gulf crisis.
Vampire Support has been in contact with The National Wildlife Federation. We have decided to change our donations for the auction from GulfAid.org to The NWF. We have tried to come in contact with GulfAid.org several different ways (and times) over the past couple of weeks with no response. The National Wildlife Federation is our best option in moving forward in an efficient and timely matter. They are aware of the auction and have been very helpful in providing our audience with the information they need. The auction will be linked to NWF’s eBay account, which is registered as a non-profit. It is set up and can be designated as a charity recipient for OUR auction. That way there is NO legal issues and you can be 100% certain that your money will be donated to them. The National Wildlife Federation has been
on the front lines responding to the wildlife crisis unfolding in the Gulf since the BP Oil Spill started on April 20. Please click
here for more information on how the money raised from Vampire Support’s auction will be put to use. The auction date has NOT been set yet. We are still waiting to receive items from varies vampire fandoms and are awaiting more information from NWF. Thank you for your understanding and support. Stay tuned for more information on the auction as we receive it by following us on
Twitter.
Thanks to The National Wildlife Federation for this picture.
We’ve recently received a lot of questions regarding the items up for auction, as well as the change of charities! Please read below for a question you may have. Missing something? Email us at vampiresupport@live.com or leave a comment and we will add it! Thank you all again for the support!
Q: How will we bid on the items?
A: There will be a special charity auction hosted on eBay.
Q: When is the auction?
A: The date for the auction is TBA. As soon as a date is set we promise to let everyone know right away.
Q: Where is the money raised from the auction going?
A: The National Wildlife Federation will receive the money from the auctions. You can view their efforts in the gulf here: http://www.nwf.org/Oil-Spill.aspx
Q: How can you guarantee my money is going to The National Wildlife Federation?
A: We can provide the proper documentations to assure that money is going to NWF. Also NWF will be hosting the auction through their charity eBay account.
Q: Can we bid on an item if we live outside of the United States?
A: Yes. The auctions will be made available for international bidders. An eBay account will be required.
Q: Will I have to pay for shipping and handling if I bid on an item?
A: Yes. Shipping prices have not been decided and will be slightly higher for international shipping.
Q: Why did you change donations from going to Gulfaid.org to NWF?
A: The donations for the t-shirts are going to continue to be given to Gulf Aid. We decided that expanding charities and helping more than one organization was the better route to take. NWF is strictly animals and it was an agreed decision to choose a charity that was designed for one cause.
Q: Are you affiliated with any of the actors/writers/etc. donating items?
A: No. Vampire Support is not endorsed by any of the vampire fandoms or actors donating to Vampire Support’s charity events, videos, shirts, etc.

Vampire Diaries poster signed by Paul, Nina and Ian.
More items TBA.
Q: How do I know the autograph script and poster
from the TVD cast is real?
A: These items were donated to Vampire Support by a representative of the CW network.

The horrific Deepwater Horizon explosion & sinking is nearly three moths behind us, but the damage caused by the oil gushing from the sea floor in the Gulf of Mexico is still blazing a deadly path, and there’s no end in sight to its devastation. Perhaps one of the people who has been most vocal in rallying people to help this cause is Louisiana native Ian Somerhalder, prompting The Vampire Diaries’ fandom to take action. One effort inspired by Ian’s passionate pleas is Vampire Support. I had the chance to chat with the gal behind this fangtastic fundraiser, Vampire Diaries addict and vlogger Chloe Dawn. Here’s what you need to know about Vampire Support, and how to get involved.
So what exactly is Vampire Support?
Vampire Support’s mission is to raise awareness about the oil spill in the gulf of Mexico by selling vampire oriented shirts as well as putting together miscellaneous projects to encourage people to donate and help out. All proceeds will go towards helping with the relief efforts. Vampire fans from every fandom can come together in a collaborative effort to help out with this horrible disaster.

Wow! The feedback Vampire Support has been getting is INCREDIBLE! All I can say is I now have items for the auction from actors/authors/fansites/etc. for the following vampire fandoms: Vampire Diaries, Twilight, True Blood, and Buffy. Needless to say, I get a ton of emails a day about people wanting to donate and help out! Also I want to update you on some quick articles that miscellaneous fansites have done about our shirts and the auction. There are more coming! I’m am getting more links sent to me daily!
The lovely hosts for the TVD Chronicles online radio show invited me on to talk about the oil spill on the gulf coast as well as the TVD Auction. Please check out there website to listen to the full interview: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/thevampirediarieschronicles/

Hey everyone! Let’s get right to the point of this blog entry. The people who follow me on Twitter are well aware that I am going to be hosting an auction sometime in the next few months. All of the money made from the auction will be going directly to GulfAid.org to help with not only the wildlife and coastal environment, but the well being of fisherman and the seafood industry. Julie Plec, one of the lovely writers of The Vampire Diaries, mailed me some Vampire Diaries items and let me just say…they are EPIC. I’m going to keep most of the items a secret for now but ONE of the items is a Vampire Diaries poster signed by Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev, and Paul Wesley. Yep, that’s the SMALL item.
UPDATE: I made a deal with all of my followers on Twitter that if 5 items from the Vampire Support store was purchased I would reveal what one of the big items that will be up for auction is. Let me just say you guys are FAST. SOOO…drum roll please…one of the epic items is the script for the Pilot episode of The Vampire Diaries signed by the ENTIRE cast! AHH! Continuing on…
All I can say is I LOVE JULIE PLEC. She is so generous! I’ve also been in touch with Vee, the creator of vampire-diaries.net and she volunteered to donate items for the auction as well. They are also BIG items. Needless to say, I am very excited about this amazing opportunity to raise awareness and money for the people on the gulf coast. I recently contacted my local CW tv station (for the people outside of the US, its the channel that airs The Vampire Diaries) and they were kind enough to volunteer to help me with publicity for the auction. Seriously, I could not be MORE grateful. The Vampire Diaries community is incredible. That’s all I can really say right now. I promise to update you all with information as I receive it. I’m not sure on a date for the auction because I am still waiting on some items and information from cast members. I’m assuming it will be sometime in the next couple of months. When I find out, you all will be the first to know! Make sure to check out my vampire oriented shirts about the oil spill. All proceeds go to GulfAid.org! AND we have support buttons available! Keep your eye out for Gulf Aid awareness bracelets that the lovely Amber Davis is making! If you have any questions please email me at vampiresupport@live.com! Thank you for supporting the gulf!

I have had a lot of people asking me how they can help out with the oil spill. Here are a few of the things I came up with, feel free to leave a comment if you have any other ideas. Keep in mind I am not a blogger, therefore this may not be the best writing.
1.) Spread Awareness: This can be done by simply tweeting and retweeting about the oil spill. Any social networking site is a great way to help spread the news. You would be suprised how many people have been living under a rock these past couple of months.
2.) DONATE: If you are able to donate, any amount of money helps. Even if you donate $1 it’s something. Make sure you donate to a reliable website that will work quickly! Here are a few of the main sites that are taking donations:
4.) Donate Hair: Believe it or not, hair soaks up oil. Contact your local pet stores, pet groomers, and hairstylist’s and ask if they would be willing to donate hair to help with the clean up. Remind them that it’s for a good cause and that it would be thrown away anyway. If they don’t go for it, volunteer to ship the hair yourself. Here is a website with more information.

Welcome to Vampire Support. From America to France to Australia to Brazil, fans all over the world have united in love and support of our beloved hit show, The Vampire Diaries. Well, TVD fans, it’s time, once again, to unite. Only this time, for a much bigger cause. Vampire fans can help. TVD’s own Ian Somerhalder has put all of his devotion and effort into saving our precious environment; in particular, the devastating oil spill in Louisiana. As fans of Ian’s, and of the show, it’s our right and responsibility to do the same and take action. Vampire Diaries fans CAN help. Sink YOUR fangs into the oil spill relief fund. Please buy a t-shirt. All proceeds will go to GulfAid.org. They will ensure all proceeds are distributed to organizations focused on supporting the wetlands, coastal environment issues, and the well-being of fisherman and the seafood industry. Shirts start at $23.99. $9 from every shirt purchased will be donated. That’s over 1/3 of the profit. Cost may vary depending on style and shirt color. If you would like a different type of clothing, (sweatshirt, shorts, long sleeved, bags, etc.) please email me at vampiresupport@live.com and I would be happy to help you. Thanks again. The gulf needs us.
