Scream For A Dream is not a not for profit organization. We are, however, researching the option. Our first priority is to get our projects done. It is not clear at this point if becoming a non-profit would help or hinder us in our endeavors.
Why We Are Currently Not a Non-Profit Organization
Running a non-profit takes time, effort and money. Rather than starting from scratch and creating another non-profit, we have chosen to partner with existing non-profits to accomplish our goals. In this way we can put 100% of our efforts and resources into our projects and let the non-profits handle the non-profit side of the business. We are also free to partner with or take on jobs and projects for any and all non-profits or take on projects of our own; extending our reach and overall the effect of our campaigns.
Non-Profits are also subject to state laws and every project, expenditure, penny spent must be approved by the non-profit’s board of directors.
Benefits:
- We can help existing non-profits accomplish what they might otherwise be unable to do alone.
- A unified approach that extends past an individual organizations reach.
How?
- We have the time and resources to focus on the project because we don’t have to worry about running a non-profit.
The downside:
- If you donate directly to us, you don’t get a tax write off, however unless you are donating significant amounts, this most likely isn’t affecting you anyway.
- There are some doors that are only open to non-profits, luckily our projects can get around many of these because they are affiliated with non-profits.
Special thanks to Ashley van Tol for helping us with this page.
